Its with sadness that we announce that the Waitootara Awa Hiikoi won’t be taking place this year, however we will be holding a Tongi Tawhito Kaitiakitanga Waananga in its place from Thursday 20th March to Sunday 23rd March 2025 at Kaipoo Marae. 

The waananga will commence on Thursday afternoon with poowhiri at Kaipoo Marae. Friday we will hold Kaitiakitanga workshops where uri will learn about the role we play in looking after our Taiao and understanding what we can do to be good Kaitiaki. Saturday we will hiikoi around Waitootara visiting marae and learning about our sites of significance and may include a hiikoi up Pootiki-aa-Rehua.
