Are you passionate about iwi development, engagement, and storytelling?
We’re looking for a skilled communicator and relationship builder to join our Ahi Kaaroa team as Kaihaapai Ahi Kaaroa – Whakapaa. In this role, you’ll help bring to life the aspirations of Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi by leading initiatives that strengthen the connection between Te Kaahui o Rauru and our uri through strategic engagement, innovative communication, and authentic storytelling.
About the Role
The Kaihaapai Ahi Kaaroa – Whakapaa plays a key role in delivering Te Kaahui o Rauru’s IMC Strategy, building strong relationships with uri and key stakeholders, and leading engagement through strategic communications and creative storytelling.
This role supports kaupapa led by the Ahi Kaaroa team and ensures that our mahi is shaped by the voices and experiences of our people. You'll be coordinating iwi communications, developing engaging content, supporting projects and events, and amplifying the stories and successes of Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi across multiple platforms.
What You’ll Bring
- A flair for creating engaging, culturally grounded communications in both English and Te Reo Maaori
- Strong experience in digital media, including videography, photography, and social platforms
- Strategic thinking and the ability to plan and deliver meaningful engagement
- Proven experience in communications, marketing, or digital content creation
- High competency in tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and CapCut
- A strong sense of manaaki, whanaungatanga, and commitment to iwi development
- A tertiary qualification in communications, marketing, or a relevant field is preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the Te Kaahui o Rauru Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) Strategy
- Lead iwi engagement that reflects and enhances the aspirations of Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi
- Manage iwi communication channels including websites, social media, paanui, and video content
- Create and promote content that brings to life iwi kaupapa and stories
- Foster strong relationships with uri, marae, hapuu and iwi stakeholders
- Support Ahi Kaaroa projects, events and initiatives that serve our people
Role Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in communications, marketing, design, or equivalent experience
- Full NZ driver’s licence and First Aid Certificate
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in communications, marketing, or iwi engagement
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends and travel for kaupapa
