Te Kawa o Te Kaahui o Rauru Trust Deed Ballot Information
Te Kaahui o Rauru invite registered uki to take part in a Ballot to consider proposed changes to Te Kawa o Te Kaahui o Rauru, our Trust Deed.
Te Kawa is the founding document that sets out the rules and structure for how Te Kaahui o Rauru operates as the post-settlement governance entity for Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi. It ensures our governance remains transparent, accountable, and aligned with both the aspirations of our iwi and current legislative requirements.
Over the past few years, Te Paepae o Te Kaahui o Rauru has been reviewing Te Kawa to update it in line with the Trusts Act 2019, the Māori Fisheries Amendment Act 2024, and the evolving needs of our iwi. The review has focused on strengthening governance processes, simplifying language, and introducing new provisions—such as the ability to fill vacant Paepae Representative roles between elections.
These proposed changes are now being put to uri for ratification through a formal Ballot process. Ballot papers will be sent to registered uri aged 18 years or older. To cast your vote, simply complete the official Ballot Paper and return it using the instructions provided.
The Ballot result will be announced at the 2025 Annual General Meeting on 13 December 2025 at Tauranga Ika Marae.
This Ballot is an important opportunity for uki to help shape how Te Kaahui o Rauru continues to grow and operate on behalf of Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi.
