Oohanga
Oohanga are our ambitions and aspirations aligned to economic growth and prosperity. Through creating start up opportunities by leveraging the networks, talent and experience that He Kaakano offers, our people could turn their ideas into potential businesses. For existing businesses, leveraging the power of Te Ao Maaori, ngaa Iwi to enhance sales, productivity, and networking.

Hauoratanga
Hauoratanga initiatives have been shaped by the Te Whare aa Whaitiri Strategic Framework. Guided by our values this approach blends traditional maatauranga, contemporary health services, and future innovation. From digital engagement and marae-based waananga to partnerships with iwi and regional providers, our hauora mahi is centred on the voices of whaanau and designed to strengthen resilience, identity, and collective wellbeing.

Kaitiakitanga
Kaitiakitanga initiatives include participating in freshwater monitoring and developing values driven decision making models and frameworks. We have a research workstream that includes mapping and capturing korero and maatauranga in our rohe. We are also keenly interested in developing workstreams of climate change resilience and adaptation and pungao whakahou (renewable energy).

Maatauranga
Maatauranga focuses on advancing Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi educational aspirations. The current focus has been developing Te Kura I Huna (our digital kura) and continuing with Te Kooiwi-roa working on our the Ngaa Rauru curriculum and developing learning resources for our tamariki. We have also recently established He Kaakano, our Centre for Excellence in Indigenous Innovation, creating a space to grow our Rauru talent.

Ngaa Rauru Kiitahitanga
Work in our Ngaa Rauru Kiitahitanga priority area includes supporting marae, kaumatua housing repairs, our iwi events calendar and supporting other cultural initiatives. This pou also works to reinvigorate our identity both inside Ngaa Rauru and out and includes iwi leadership and succession for our tamariki, rangatahi and pahake.
