Kaikoorero & Kaikaranga Waananga
REGISTRATIONS NOW OPEN!
He Kaakaa Kura Ki Uta, He Kaakaa Kura Ki Tai is a marae-based waananga series created to grow and strengthen the foundations of whaikoorero and kaikaranga within Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi.
Grounded in our tikanga and led by Mike Neho alongside maatauranga holders of Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi, this pilot series is designed for uri who are at the beginning of their learning journey. It provides a supportive and practical environment where tauira can develop an understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and expectations of kaikoorero and kaikaranga across both hui ora and hui mate.
This kaupapa is about more than learning the words, it is about understanding the weight of these roles, the tikanga that sits behind them, and the responsibility of carrying the voices of our people. Through a series of four waananga, tauira will be guided through foundational knowledge, observed practice, and opportunities to grow their confidence on the paepae and the marae.
The waananga will be held at Tauranga Ika Marae across the following dates:
8–10 May
5–7 June
26–28 June
17–19 July
As this is a limited pilot series, spaces are restricted. A $100 bond is required to secure participation, which will be fully reimbursed upon completion of all four waananga.
We strongly encourage uri to seek the support of their marae and whaanau as they step into this journey. Whaanau are also welcome to attend the first waananga to gain an understanding of the kaupapa and how best to support their tauira.
If you are ready to begin your journey and contribute to the future strength of our paepae, we welcome your registration.
