Registrations are now open for Te Toi Ahurea 2026!!  

Held in Te Kaihau aa Kupe in Whanganui at Te Kura Kaupapa Maaori o Tupoho on 31 October to 1 November 2026, Te Toi Ahurea is our celebration of Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi where we come together, reconnect with our marae, honour our traditions, and strengthen our iwi identity. This is to call to return home, stand proudly with your marae and paahuki, and create lasting memories with whaanau while celebrating everything that makes us Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi.

Across two exciting days, participants can enjoy a wide range of activities that encourage participation, friendly competition, learning, and whanaungatanga. The programme includes Marae All Stars, Touch Rugby, Netball, 3x3 Basketball, Ambrose Golf, Kaumaatua Olympics, Tamariki Athletics, Indoor Lawn Bowls, Euchre, Chess and Puzzle Challenges, a Cooking Competition, interactive Kahoot quizzes, Paahuki Kapa Haka, and waananga facilitated by respected Ngaa Rauru leaders. Whaanau will also be able to explore a variety of pakihi, hauora and community organisations, alongside mahi toi and exhibition displays.

Every activity contributes points towards the overall marae and paahuki standings, making participation just as important as competition and encouraging everyone to get involved.

A unique feature of Te Toi Ahurea 2026 is the opportunity for each marae to showcase its identity and history. This year, marae are invited to share banners and displays, highlight their tuupuna, exhibit mahi toi, and celebrate the stories, achievements and taonga that make their marae unique. Together these displays help preserve and promote the rich heritage of Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi for future generations.

Entry fees for Te Toi Ahurea 2026:

• Tamariki (0–12 years) and kaumaatua (65+ years) are free

• Adults (13–64 years) are $10. 

Registrations close on Sunday, 27 September 2026.
