Te Kaahui o Rauru set to Unveil New Tohu and Brand Identity
24 September 2025
Te Kaahui o Rauru is proud to announce the launch of a refreshed tohu and brand identity, signalling the next stage of growth for the Post Settlement Governance Entity of Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi.
The new tohu, created by Jason Hina (Ngaati Maika), builds on the original design he developed in 2005 from the koorero of our iwi leaders at the time. It draws inspiration from our Take Tuupuna, Rauru, who is recognised as the progenitor of carving and whose distinctive pattern “Te Piko o Rauru” remains a defining motif.
The refreshed design reflects more than 20 years of iwi journeying through celebration and achievement, challenges and adversity, and reaffirms the resilience, unity, and aspirations of Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi. The tohu incorporates elements of the taiao with emphasis on the biting winds of Te Kiri o Rauru, the paakati which express mana and strength and the mauri that flows from Te Ao Tawhito into Te Ao Maarama.
Tumu Whakahaere Renée Bradley says the rebrand is an important milestone for Te Kaahui o Rauru. “This tohu honours where we have come from and sets our sights on where we are going. It acknowledges the pathways of our tuupuna, the establishment of our organisation, and the future we are building together. It is a mark of resilience, connection and hope for generations of uri to come.”
The rebrand will be rolled out swiftly over the coming weeks with the new website going live on Friday 26th September, giving uri and stakeholders the first opportunity to engage with the refreshed brand.
Throughout the following weeks, our social media channels will go offline as we prepare to transition to the new look, with office signage and communication templates to follow as we transition to the refreshed tohu. An exciting addition to the rebrand for our uri is the much-anticipated launch of official Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi merchandise which will be made available through a pre-order campaign before Christmas.
Uri and stakeholders are encouraged to keep an eye on our channels, where a series of posts, reels, and updates will share the meaning behind the rebrand and showcase the changes as they unfold.
Te Kaahui o Rauru acknowledges that the tohu is more than a visual identity – it is a living reminder of our collective journey as an iwi. It celebrates the strength of our marae and hapuu, honours the wisdom of our tuupuna, and places trust in the generations to come.
As the rebrand continues to roll out, uri are invited to embrace the new tohu, share in its meaning, and walk with Te Kaahui o Rauru as we continue to create initiatives and opportunities for Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi into the future.
For further information, uri are encouraged to visit the new website when it launches this Friday and to follow Te Kaahui o Rauru on social media for ongoing updates.
