We are holding a Whaariki Waananga for our experienced Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi kairaaranga to come together to create taonga that will live within our marae for generations to come.

From 8–10 May 2026, our experienced Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi kairaaranga are invited to gather at Paakaraka Marae for a Whaariki Waananga led by Trina Taurua.

​

Each whaariki will carry the stories of our hapuu, woven intentionally and to a standard that reflects the depth of our tikanga and maatauranga.

​

This waananga is not just about weaving. It is about contribution, legacy, and strengthening the practice of raaranga within our iwi, including developing techniques that support the creation of Kahu Whakatere.

This kaupapa is intended for experienced weavers who are ready to commit to the mahi, including preparing and bringing 1000 whenu.
