Ngaati Maika will be hosting a series of waananga throughout 2026 for uri of Ngati Maika creating space for whaanau to return home to the Paa, reconnect, and strengthen our ahi kaa of Ngati Maika. These waananga are specifically to build a succession plan for Ngati Maika and whanau outside of Ngati Maika are welcome to participate. An opportunity to deepen our understanding of who we are as Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi, grounded in tikanga, shared learning, and collective whanaungatanga.

The waananga will be led by siblings Moringa (Mama) and Mark (Pop) Pirikahu and are open to all uri of Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi who wish to learn, reconnect, and contribute.

Each waananga will:

• Explore and unpack tikanga and kawa

• Offer hands-on, practical learning opportunities

• Support the revival and sharing of waiata o Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi

• Whaanau are encouraged to bring a light and healthy rourou kai to share as part of our collective manaakitanga.
